The rusty red colour of the peeling bark contrasts with spectacular orange and grey of the trunk. This tree is commonly known as Sydney Red Gum or Rusty Gum, although it is not a gum tree (eucalypt) but a member of the Myrtle family. Scientific name Angophora costata.
